The winery

in Mollands / Kamptal

Profound, distinctive, and unique – these words describe not only the wines of Matthias Hager, but also the winemaker himself. Matthias was challenged to take on responsibility in his family business at a very young age. He can now draw on a wealth of experience, which has both motivated and supported him in cultivating his vineyards biodynamically. Today, the estate comprises 13 hectares of vineyards in and around the small winegrowing village of Mollands. The strength of the family business lies in its diversity. From loess and clay to various types of primary rock, everything is represented in the northern Kamptal region. Matthias knows how to utilize this diversity for his winemaking. This has also led to a shift in focus from the distinction between white and red wines in Matthias Hager's portfolio to a differentiation into a brown and blue line. A detailed description can be found under "Product Range." The winery of Matthias Hager has been a member of the Demeter Association, the international association of biodynamic farmers, since 2008. He is by far one of the youngest, which suggests that biodynamic farming requires a great deal of experience, intuition and patience.
